Happy Valentine’s of last month ago. Lol.
Where were you last Valentine’s Day?
I had a great Valentíne’s day at work and spent a laughter-filled and meaningful dinner. Since then, I have been busy and has been missing writing blogs. But, there was never a day that I did not think of my readers. You are God’s best gift to me last year and only by your kindness that I have finally put that “blogger” role after my name.

In a nutshell, a lot of blessings have been happening in my life. I have a new exciting full-time job which is an exact answer to my prayers and will tell you more about it on my succeeding stories and sharings. But this time let me share the opportunity when I asked men, particularly leaders of the Catholic charismatic community of single people where I also serve, about what turns them off and what turns them in for pursuit for a single lady.

I think it’s the best time to take a peak on what kind of girl (sister) fills their minds, yes, on this month of women.

Listen to these, friends.

Meet the leader – guy from the East. He is a gentle and prayerful person who is sporty and is himself a gentle guy. His two reasons to fall for a lady are intelligence and gentle demeanor. While, childish girls make him run away from the war of romantic pursuit.

The second guy – leader is so from the heart of MRT stations. If you are in Singapore, you will know it’s Serangoon. His two biggest weaknesses are girls who love their families, brown – skinned, intelligent, simple, gentle and God-fearing. His biggest turn – off are girls who are loud.

The third leader is someone from the west. He got so comfortable with my question, I guess, because he is the closet among the three for we share many years of friendship, that he has a long list of what turns him into a hunter in the game of courtship.

His biggest turn – on is someone who can carry – on a great conversation whatever the topic is, from superficial to the serious and vice versa. He likes, too, girls who are gentle, soft spoken that she is comfortable to talk – to, kind – hearted to both strangers and loved – ones and to herself. She really is undoubtedly kind, pleasing and graceful, supportive, encouraging, fun-to-be-with, lovable and funny. He stressed the “fun-to-be-with”. Someone confident of herself that she can joke about herself, her weaknesses, not insecure, not necessarily intelligent but who loves learning and curious and willing to be better.
A big bonus is someone who cooks really well! His turn-offs are girls who are vain and selfish.
I am writing and sharing to girls not in an effort to fit to their “likes” but to know the inner qualities we can work on to catch the attention of someone who is pleasing to the Lord Himself.

I just hope we are winning someone’s attention and we are encouraging that person closer to the Lord, more than we are pulling them to us.

I had fun writing this. I hope you had fun reading this, too.

Please like and share, out of your kindness. God bless!

I have been serving single people who love and honor the Lord for almost two decades now while, I, myself is a síngle person. I have heard and some witnessed stories of female single friends of how they fell in love and heard and witnessed, too, a lot of single people experienced the biggest heartbreak of their lives.

One night, I reflected what it takes to be the right person for another right person. This article is a result of that reflection

Dear Mr Right, Would you be my number 2?

Here’s the prequel to that.

What it Takes to be Mr Right (A Love Letter)

Dear Son,

How have you been?

Heavens just stopped and dropped their singing these days whenever your heart smiles at my own daughter whether in person or at the screen everytime you message her.

I have planned of your existence long before the foundation of the world but your moves and decisions surprise me these days.

I smile with you whenever she smiles back at you. Heavens rejoice with you.

You sure are responding to the growing seed that I have planted in your heart, a seed that speaks of me, a seed that glorifies me, a seed that gives purpose to your living. And that brings me honor.

The seed of desiring to find a wife comes from me. A wife who is not appropriate for me, but aptly for you. Someone suitable for you, so, someone I fashioned for you. Since, I created and love you, I know very well what you need, what you like, what complements you and above all, what will make you closer to me and not what will take you away from me.

As you search for her out from a growing desire to find someone to love for a lifetime, to make babies with and be a helpmate to your future family, I want to draw you more to me. The more that you build your relationship with me, the more that seed grows. Remember that seed comes from me and only me can grow that seed, so, come to me, my Son, my future Kingdom builder, my beloved.

Let me water the soil of your being, so it will be fertile. Once fertile, the seed will grow into sprout. Let me clear the clouds of fear in your head. I am the way, the truth and the life, so, with me you can clear all confusion. Let me reveal to you the great manhood that I have created you to live – out. You can do great things far more than what you thought of yourself. You have my image and likeness and, thus, you carry the power and splendor of my Name. I created that manhood and thus, you have immense strength to build, destroy and endure. Let me remind you my son, once again, that you are called to be holy for I am holy. In your holiness, in your stronger relationship with me and in your deep love for me, then, you shall gain direction and will not be dismayed when you find the person I have created, molded and will respond to your search.

My Son, I am here with you in the pursuit I have designed for your life. If you invite me to join you in your pursuit and obey to be the person who you really are in my eyes then you will be Mr Right for someone that caught your eye, someone like a prey to your hunt, someone I have fashioned, molded and loved, someone who is herself loves and honors me, too.

You have what it takes to be Mr Right and soon, be a leader of church called a family.

Your fan,
Father God

You Will Be Chosen (Learning to Clap For the Winner During Times of Rejection)

In my lifetime, I have lost count of the number of times that I was not chosen for areas that I have expressed my desire and displayed my efforts to be chosen. This had happened in the areas of my career, personal life, dating and even in friendship, in small and big decisions of others that resulted to a feeling of rejection.

While the world claps for the one that was chosen, there is always someone else from the opposite side of the coin, the one that was not chosen.

While, this happens, there is a big temptation to ask “Why not me?”

Just like any chemical compound where each has it’s own identity, no one is an exact replica of one person.

Each one of us is uniquely different from another person and if a person was chosen for a role and there is no other person like that person, the question “Why not me?” is actually invalid.

But if this temptation to ask “Why not me?” occurs, why not change that question with “Why not now?”

Because the question “Why not now?” is more of an active question than a paralysing question.

As I grow to be more “adultly” each year, I have realized that time is an ingredient of success that is learned by natural process. By considering time in the process of selection and success, preparation becomes crucial. I have read the book “How Luck Happens” and my main take away point in that is Luck happens to the the prepared and focused and preparation and focus is equivalent to time.

“Why not now?” means you need to know a lot more. “Why not now?” means you have to practise more. “Why not now?” means you have to know more of yourself. “Why not now?” means you have to know more about you dreams or skills… Or whatever it takes.

For where I am now in my life and what I have seen and transpired to people around me, success, fulfillment of dreams happens not based on the question “Why not me?” but “Why not now?”

And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to send her away quietly

Matthew 1:19

——

Jesus, the Saviour, the Messiah was raised with this kind of man, a man who is just, righteous, considerate, compassionate, loving and protective.

I believe God continues to raise men like him, like Saint Joseph.

May you find someone like him today in your midst.

May you build someone like him today in your family.

May you recognise someone like him today.

May you choose someone like him today.

must admit that in my long years with young praying adult singles, I can not anymore count using both hands how many times I have consoled a sister (lady) because she was not “chosen” by someone she liked and someone else was chosen and that someone else who was chosen happens to be someone she knows also. In a clearer picture, her girlfriend was chosen by someone she likes for herself.

I can console. I can comfort because I know how that feels.

I am no exception. Not once, but twice. Twice that I died to myself. I will give you a picture how it looked with the more heartbreaking moment.

I flew to International Conference for Singles and I’ve been hearing news about them but I had still had high hopes that it was just the regular sister and brother relationship. I’ve just arrived at the venue when I saw them together and they were both laughing. The moment I saw them… I grabbed the brother and exclaimed, “She looks like a forlorn puppy.”

Of course, that was not what happened. Lol.

The moment I saw them, I turned around, stopped and looked down. Heavens knew what I spoke within me, “Lord, naman. Wala pa akong tulog o. I flew here tapos yan ang bubungad nyo sa akin.” (Lord, I haven’t even slept yet. I flew here, then, You’d welcome me with this.) And I swear this happened afterwards, there was a sudden downpour of rain from skies.

They looked cute together. Not me and him. But her and him.

There are times that no matter how hard a sister avoided to fall-in love with her brother – friend, romantic feelings happen. Due to seemingly harmless circumstances, it happens, although to not all friends, but to some sisters and brothers. I don’t assign blame to any party, for in a loving community we take loving seriously. However, all the more we are in a loving community, lest, should we not be more careful on how we relate to one another?

Heeding the boundaries of every relationship that we establish is the supreme loving act for our loved-ones, for our friends.

LOVE WINS: BE THE BEST SISTER

When friendship hurts because romantic feelings occurred for one party only, be the best sister for him, let go of the romantic feelings and hopes as him and you as couple.

When friendship hurts because romantic feelings had took place for one party only, be the best sister for him.

Set your hopes higher to the Lord. He who is love Himself is the author and finisher of every true love story. Hope in the Lord. He will finish a love story for you.

When friendship hurts because romantic feelings had developed for one party only, be the best sister for him. Love him through your decent distance from him. Love is so powerful that we can love EVEN with a certain distance.

When friendship hurts because romantic feelings came into being for one party only, be the best sister for him. Empty yourself of envy. Envy has its own circle of relatives, they are resentment bitterness and jealousy. Be empty of all of those.

As loving friends just like Jesus to us, our loving friend, He died for us. We, too, must learn to die to ourselves, continue to be the best sister, continue to serve, continue to have faith, continue to choose Christ! This is sacrifice and that is love. And love always wins!

When we become the best sister for our “romantic” brother – friend, we are able to love, too…May be not romantically, but this time more deeply.

Dear Father God in Heaven, Lord,

During this time of loneliness of not being “chosen”, please help me NOT forget the people that You bless me with. Please help me not forget the You choose me. Always.

I look forward to that day when this hurting ends. I will make it sooner. Would you please embrace me? Help me. Thank you.

Mother Mary, please intercede for me.

Saint Josemaria Escriva, pray for us.

Amen.
