Before I became a married woman, I spent years praying intentionally for my future spouse. I wrote hundreds of letters to him — long before I knew his name. I prayed novenas for him, entrusted him to God, and asked the Lord to shape my own heart while I was still navigating the dating world.
These are the prayers I always had at the top of my head, and it felt like they changed the course of my dating life
“Lord, help me see the dignity You placed in me.”
“Lord, please help me always see the concrete dignity You have bestowed on me before the foundation of the world. I am Your child, wonderfully created in Your image. Do not allow me to lose sight of that truth.”
Dating can blur your vision. Emotions can cloud judgment. Attention can feel like affection. But your dignity is not up for negotiation.
If a man ever makes you shrink, doubt your worth, or question your identity in God —
Run, lady.
Do not stay where your value is slowly being dimmed.
You are God’s beloved daughter.
You carry His image.
You deserve a love that honors that truth.
Single lady, before even going out on a date, I hope you shape and act like one.
